Am I the only one who thinks January moved in a blur? You’d think that after the hustle and bustle of the holidays were over that things would slow down, but that wasn’t the case!

Last month I got back into the habit of reading and writing postcards to friends and family more regularly and reconnected with my friends. We even saw a bit of snow which made me disproportionately happy compared to the amount of snow we actually got, but any snow is better than no snow am I right?

This month is all about healthy habits. My work/life balance was off last month so this month I’m determined to get it back on track!

get up when my alarm goes off

Yes, this was a goal from January. No, I wasn’t the best at it. Yes, I’m trying again.

I’m the WORST when it comes to getting up in the morning. I’ve gotten into a bad habit of setting my alarm for earlier than I actually need to get up so that I can hit snooze multiple times. Either that, or I’ll wake up when my alarm goes off but then just lay in bed for anywhere between an extra 15 minutes or an extra hour. I either never quite end up falling back asleep or I’m starting my day scrolling through Instagram and all of a sudden I’ve spent 20 minutes on my phone before I’m even out of bed. What’s the point in that?

exercise 4x per week

Work has been a bit of a drag lately; there’s no shortage of things to do and I’ve been staying at the office longer than I’d like in order to get them done. I’m exhausted by the end of the day and too tired to drag my you know what to the gym. I can feel that my energy reserves are low, which is usually an indication that I either need to start eating healthier or get back in the gym (or both). So this month, the goal is to exercise 4x per week and see where my energy is at by the end of the month.

pack lunch every day

It’s no surprise that packing lunch costs way less than buying lunch everyday. Last month I did pretty well with bringing my own lunch into the office during the week, but there were some days where I didn’t bother to pack and went for a warm toastie instead. This month I want to make it the whole month without buying lunch because a) it keeps me eating healthier foods and b) it saves me £££.

I see a lot of chicken salads in my future.

have one new experience per week

When you live in a city as big as London, there is an endless supply of places to go and things to do/see. In the winter months I usually go into hibernate mode and find myself exploring the city less and less. This month, I want to make sure that I keep exploring and experience one new thing per week. Or as my Dad would say, ‘go out and do something new!’
