This one is pretty easy! I miss having the ability to see friends or family on a whim.
Living in London is wonderful. However, living across the ocean also means that I can’t decide to go to Philadelphia to see my cousin Marykate or to Frederick to see Laura just because I want to see them. Instead, I have to be thoughtful about when I go home, and plan it so that I can see as many people as possible before I have to fly back to London.
On the one hand, this separation makes visits extra special. When I do see them both next month it will be days of quality time, which I love. But on the other hand, they’ll inevitably go home and I won’t see them again for months on end.
Nothing that can’t be managed of course, it’s just one of the aspects of the life of an expat abroad.
